Finally under-staffing and support is crucial in the family nursing today. The family nursing community should be able to unconditionally support the nursing students as well as the new graduates in the area of family nursing (Greenwood Wright & Nielsen 2006).
Being a nurse at the intensive critical care unit has given me an opportunity to see the trends in the family nursing. There is an instance which occurred at my department when one of my colleagues said Sorry if Im in a bad mood. We just got a new computer charting system and its a big hassle and everyone hates it. I dont know what was wrong with charting on paper. I liked her honesty but such nurses will not be able to cope with current technological advancements. Computers are faster easier to read accessible and have improved safety for patients information. Further we are always given students and new graduates to train so as to help cope with the growing demand for nursing of families. Finally we have embraced diversity in our department and there are nurses from different cultural backgrounds. This has indeed helped solve the increasing diversity issues in the nursing for families where nurses have easily understood the patients.
