Main Story
The impact of the coronavirus pandemic among college and university education.
Since the outbreak of the coronavirus, in late November 2019, college officials, healthcare advocacy teams, lawmakers, and the university practitioners have become more worried about the rising cases on the spread of the coronavirus. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Remember that with AP Style, the lede is usually one sentence and about 25 words. So, break this up into multiple paragraphs. Paragraphs should be one to two sentences and change every time your idea changes. This is different from essay style.
The recent statistics show that the number of people diagnosed with the coronavirus is quite high, and the numbers are expected to go up in the coming couple of days. Since the breaking of the epidemic, most of the states have taken the necessary precautionary measures to stop the spread of the virus since it is associated with social contacts by closing down schools, banning of social gatherings, and shutting of some of the key economic activities (Tao et al., 2020). Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: What recent statistics? Your readers will want to know. Look at that list of sources I posted in announcements for primary sources that you can attribute information to. There you will find current numbers to report. Be sure to cite where you got them by saying, for example, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Who says? Remember, every claim made in our stories has to be attributed to someone. We aren’t doctors, right? We are journalists reporting what doctors are telling us. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: While this is true, remember that this should be a story Trop readers or readers in Troy care about. So, go to that list of sources I gave you in announcements and look at what happened here in Alabama. It is fine to say most states are doing this, but then say specifically what happened in Alabama. Use the emails from Troy to you about what Troy is doing. Cite any emails or information you find in news releases by saying something like, according to an email from Troy University sent on behalf of Dr. Lance Tatum, … Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: This is an APA citation. Remember, this should be AP style.
The impact of the deadly virus is like to bring down the global higher education system as most of the state advocating for pharmaceutical measures of social distancing. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: This is a really big statement to make? Do you really thing colleges are going to close for good because of this illness? When you make statements like this they must come from an expert, not the journalist.
According to Dr. B.J. Bateman, a senior professor at Troy University, said that the university’s top priority at this period is to protect the university fraternity from the dangers that are posed by the deadly virus. The university fraternity involves the student, university staff, faculty, and the immediate staff to the university. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: So, Dr. Bateman is a retired physics professor. It is fine to quote him as being a professor who cares about his students and the school, but be careful not to use him as an expert on the virus. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: I don’t think this is the right word you want to use – community, maybe?
He said, “this is a critical situation that threatens human civilization,” he said. “Any steps that we take will determine our future success, the university is fighting hard now to protect everyone from the virus. The war against the virus will be won, and life will move on”, he continued. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Think about quotes. Remember they should go in the order of what was said, then who said it, then the word said. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Remember that commas and periods always go inside quotation marks, never outside.
Nevertheless, there are too many concerns among students that the epidemic effect may go beyond the 2020-21 academic year. There could greatly affect the landscape of the American educational systems right from the low grade to the university levels. Undoubtedly, some of the changes could have a positive impact on the country’s educational system. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: How do you know? Interview students to find out their concerns and include their words and concerns. You can’t just say students are concerned – readers need to know how you know and hear from them.
With the virus spreading rapidly, some of the changes in the educational system include the growth of partnerships in educational firms both in the public and private sectors (Yee et al., 2020). Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Think about source citation and use AP style writing.
The researchers are, however, working to develop a vaccine for the virus. Healthcare professionals have been described as heroes in their fight against the coronavirus. The response to the epidemic by scientists and medical teams is described as excellent on social media platforms. The doctors heave being playing a central role in reinforcing educational measures in the defeat of the virus. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: What researchers? Tell your readers who they are – researchers at Johns Hopkins University, at the CDC, at other places internationally?
Professor Gaston is one of the faculty of biotechnology. “The role of high education has been transformed significantly by the emergence of the virus,” he said. “There is an expected resurgence on student’s interest in scientific and medical education.” Gaston continued. The professor also sees potential improved research and the approaches used in the teaching of students in various universities. “The physical closure of the university doesn’t necessarily imply the stop of the learning process,” Professor Gaston said. “The higher learning education system is quite interconnected and doesn’t always need people sitting in concrete towers.” He said. Technological companies will be the biggest winner in these epidemics as they will play a critical role in sponsoring of remote learning programs Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Need to include first name and if he is at Troy. Review the quote formats in this paragraph and remember that paragraphs should be one-two sentences. Quotes should be their own paragraphs.
Professor Silvia Li, who is an International Office and assistant professor at Troy University, said that the outbreak of the Covid-19 Virus virus would could allow universities to restructure their learning approaches to expand its online learning scopes that could alas well serve international students. Preventing natural learning approaches will save many lives of students and their families, as well. The educational systems should always be well prepared for situations like the currents one. The outbreaks of the virus could allow university management teams to rethink the best leaning approaches in the future and accept the digitalized nature of the world. Coronavirus outbreak was an indication of the importance of the digitalized education system where the students could learn from remote. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Silvia is the director of special international initiatives, not an assistant professor or professor, so be sure to check how you identify your sources. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: This is a little wrong, an office is a place, so think about looking for a different way to write what you mean here. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Wrong word? Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: I’m not sure what you mean here. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Remember to put commas before as well, too, yet, also. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Since we don’t know what will happen, it is best to use could instead of would. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Again, really think about all these statements. The information had to come from someone – tell readers who that was.
Jameson Zhang is a healthcare consultant who works in New York describes the closing down of schools as an essential measure in combating the infectious coronavirus. “Schools and another social center can be the epicenters for the spread of the coronavirus,” she said. “Closing down of schools, New York State was an important step towards reducing the spread of the coronavirus.” Jameson says that everyone is vulnerable too deadly viruses, although the older population has a weaker immune system to the virus. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Look at the sources I gave you and consider replacing this with something from our area – the Alabama Department of Public Health, Troy University, Alabama State Board of Education….local is better.
In most of the affected states like New York most, the universities face prospects of losing the entire semester of their educational calendars or even more as the situation remains unpredictable and may take a longer time than expected for the situation to come under control. Administrators in Troy University have put into halt physical learning programs in lecture halls advocating for a learning system that uses virtual technology. Based on the assessment, the country is likely to move back to its normal system in late July. Traveling restriction has prevented thousands of oversea learners, too, go back to their institutions. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Think about proximity – do we care what’s happening in New York? Not as much as we care about what happens close to us, right? Think about how you can localize this to Alabama and Troy. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Use Troy officials to say this. We always have to attribute information. So, say, according to a news release from Troy University on the matter, online education should ….

So, your citations will go in your story. For instance,

How Coronavirus Virus Epidemic Continues to Affect Normal Life Routines
As the fight against the coronavirus pandemic continues, most of businesses have been closed down across states. Other restrictions imposed include imposing of travel bans for international passenger planes travelling to and out of America. The suspension of typical university learning has greatly affected students across the globe with some diagnosed with the virus. Universities and other organizations are taking stern measures to stop the spread of the virus. This has dramatically affected the regular routine of how to issue are conducted with universities and colleges. The coronavirus has restored the American education system by a considerable margin. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Remember that your lede should tell a brief overview of who, what, when, where – or be an anectodal lede, perhaps. But it should be one sentence and about 25 words or less. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: So, there have been a lot of stories about businesses finding ways to keep their doors open and serve the community with alternative business plans – such as curbside service. So, a blanket statement like this HAS to be backed with statistics and attributed to someone or some entity. Because, while there is a stay-at-home order, most businesses are still operating, just differently. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Restored means brought back. So, is this what you meant here. Again, though, all these things in your opening are ideas that can’t come from you – they have to be backed up and attributed. So, something like: The suspension of typical learning environments across the world have created a need for universities to ….. according to the U.S. Department of Global Education (I made that up, so don’t use that, of course.)
Taikuang Chi is a college senior at Troy University comes from China. Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, he has been forced to stay at home and avoid contact with people as the country-imposedUnited States imposed a travel ban for people coming from and going to China. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Taikuang Chi is a Troy University senior studying xxxxxx and is from China. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Here in Troy? Or back home in China?
“The virus has greatly affected us as students, and no one knows when the crisis will come under control and when we resume back to finish our education,.” Chi said. “There is nothing left to do but stay home. My professor has been sending some notes and assignment which to study from home.” Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Remember to keep paragraphs short – one to two sentences – and quotes should be their own paragraph. Be sure to review quote formatting and see the notes on your main story.
He continued. He shared that sStudents are greatly affected, and everyone is scared of going out.
Most students are not only worried about their health but also in the future as well (Munster et al., 2020). Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Use AP style
Last week, two members of the Troy University‘s staff tested positive for the coronavirus. This raised an increased alert on the exposure to the virus. According to the International officer, Silvia Li, two of the university’s employees have being diagnosed with the coronavirus. Due to this impact, the university has already stopped many of the employees from the coming to worktheir offices if they can do their jobs remotely. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: According to who? I think it was a student and a teacher, neither live in Troy and neither have been to campus since spring break. Is this something different? Double check that this information is accurate. We have to be very careful saying things like this and always attribute medical things to someone. As statements like this, if untrue, hurt a business, the business could take you to court. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: This sentence says pretty much the same thing as the first sentence in this paragraph except it is attributed. If the sentence is true, and you have verified through Silvia Li, then keep this one and delete the first one. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: See my note on your previous story about her title.
According to Li, most of the organization is working protect its employees.
“When some of the employees are diagnosed as positive, it poses not only a big threat to otter other employees, but also the school fraternity, as a well,” she said. “Most of the students are more scared, and some of the employees are reluctant coming for work.”
The outbreak of the epidemicpandemic ahs not only affected the education system,al but has also created an economic crisis across the entire continenthardships for businesses.
Mary Zhang, who runs a grocery store in Auburn City, saidys that since the start of the epidemic, she has been forced to close down the business. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Proximity and impact wise, does this affect us in Troy. Would Troy readers care?
“The epidemic has paralyzed the business,” Zhang said. “Many people are scared of coming to the stores to buy groceries for fear of conducting the epidemic.” Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: Think about if this is the right word. It doesn’t quite make sense here.
The epidemic has created a new normal of life with most economic activities stopping and the healthcare system in countries like Italy being taken over by the epidemic. Comment by Robbyn Elizabeth Taylor: I would challenge you to think about another way to close this story. You have been writing about the U.S. and Alabama – Italy is out of place being used here. Think on this.
