However as you are a student nurse all you can do is advised the registered nurse in charge of Mario. The registered nurse states that as the doctor has not written up (charted)the application of olive oil for Mario therefore it should not be applied. She further states that as the bottle isn’t labelled it could be anything and if in fact it is olive oil it will create a ‘falls risk’ to her patient who is frail and a two (2) assist for mobility.

Complete a nursing care plan for Mario. (Bullet points ARE NOT accepted).
Provide an evidence based care plan for this patient. This is NOT a reflection. Information should be supported with relevant contemporary evidence to support nursing interventions and/or strategies that might assist in future practice. Using the nursing process (of Assess/Plan/Implement/Evaluate)students are required to develop a nursing care plan about this situation identifying appropriate goals and how they would be achieved. Students should also provide a rationale for why the goals are important. This nursing care plan must be the plan of care that would be initiated if a Registered Nurse were looking after this patient again now that there is evidence to support this.
