At the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
• Demonstrate an understanding of the epidemiology, differential diagnosis, subjective and objective data, and medication plans for various vaginal infections affecting women in primary care. (CO1)
• Identify/describe the incidence, transmission, diagnostic testing, and management of women with HIV in primary care. (CO2)
• Demonstrate an understanding of the epidemiology, diagnostic testing, subjective and objective data, differential diagnosis, and medication plan with common gynecological pelvic disorders with women in the primary care setting. (CO7, CO8)
• Identify/describe the etiology, history, physical exam, and laboratory and diagnostic testing of PCOS. (CO2)

These readings will help you understand the nurse practitioner’s role in regard to HIV and cervical aberrations with women in primary care. They will also help you understand the nurse practitioner’s role in regard to common gynecological pelvic disorders, PCOS, and sexual dysfunction with women in the primary care setting.
ASSIGNMENT:
Assignment Guidelines
Select one of the 14 pelvic disorders listed in Chapter 16 of the Youngkin textbook. Then do the following:
• Describe your patient (demographics, vitals, weight).
• List subjective and objective data.
• Provide two differential diagnoses.
• Suggest appropriate intervention (pharmaceutical or non-pharmaceutical) and follow-up. Using the BU Library, find an article to support your evidence-based treatment (either pharmaceutical or non-pharmaceutical).
Your completed assignment is a written paper of two pages.
This activity will be evaluated using the Writing Assignment Rubric in your syllabus.
