Congratulations! You’ve established a colony and so far it seems successful – at least you avoided the fate of Roanoke. But changes are coming. Your population is getting stronger, and bigger.
And there’s a nasty trend brewing – the King is starting to act like you are part of England, and controllable by him and Parliament. You can’t really fight him on this – he is the king, but it is unsettling nonetheless. And there are new ideas appearing from Europe called Humanism or the Enlightenment. Surely this will not bode well. But you have bigger fish to fry so speak, your colony is in danger! Something supernatural has attacked (or appears to be attacking) your colony and how you handle it could mean big changes… What supernatural being attacked your colony? (ie: werewolves, witches, vampires, zombies, evil mermaids, ghosts, etc.) How did your colony discover this threat? What happened to the victims? How rapidly did it spread? How did you determine who the creature was – or who was helping it? How did you punish the creature or those who helped it? Did your punishment stop the attacks? If not, how did the attacks end? What changes did this shocking reign of terror bring to the colony (government, social, religious)? How did the government structure of the colony change? If it didn’t, why not? How did society change after these attacks? If it didn’t, why not? Were more people moved to join a religion after this event, or did they turn away from it? How did the day to day lives of people in your colony change? (ie were people more involved in the community, or was there more distance? Were they more involved in government or the church?) These events occurred at the same time as the Enlightenment came to the American colonies – did the arguments of the philosophes there influence either the treatment of the creatures or the way people lived afterwards? Why or why not?
