Applied Psychology – From Theory to Practice
The final assignment for this course is a Final Paper. The purpose of the Final Paper is for you to culminate the learning achieved in the course by applying concepts to a specific case study.
Focus of the Final Paper
The Final Paper should demonstrate understanding of concepts addressed across the course as applied to a selected case study. This type of project will be important as you continue with and complete your program because the skill sets of applying your knowledge will be of great use to you when you are ready to go out into the job market and/or apply them to your daily life.
To begin, review the case study you selected in Week Two of the course. Remember, you must use this case study. Pay special attention to the topic you selected and the area from which you will draw your research on the topic as noted in the title of the case study. For example, if you selected Case Study #1, you would explore the topic of severe depression from the clinical psychology perspective. If you selected Case Study #5, you would explore motivation from the industrial organizational psychology perspective.
Next, research the chosen topic using scholarly resources and craft a thesis statement regarding your selected topic. For assistance with creating a thesis statement, utilize the Thesis Generator tool on the Ashford University Writing Center website. Your paper must contain at least six references from scholarly sources that are cited according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. Examples of scholarly sources include peer reviewed journal articles, research studies, professional websites with authored material, and government websites. Popular Internet sites (Wikipedia, Newsweek, New York Times, etc.) are not considered scholarly sources. For further assistance in determining whether or not a site is scholarly, please access the Evaluating Web Resources tutorial on the Ashford University Library website.
In a well-developed eight- to ten-page paper address the following criteria for the case study you selected in Week Two and outlined in Week Three. See the attached ABS200 Case Study List to review the case studies.

My example I did for my annotated bibliography some of these references need to be used but can also use new ones.
My case study that I picked is Clinical Psychology Case Study #1 Clinical Psychology: Severe Depression Joe is suffering from severe depression. His father, grandmother, and two uncles suffered with the same abnormal condition. One of Joe’s uncles committed suicide as a result. Joe’s depression started after he was laid off from work, and became disabling when his wife divorced him taking their kids and their home.
The case study has to be affiliated with the case study I picked.
Clinical Psychology
I. Applied behavioral science is the branch such as sociology and psychology that will handle primarily with human action and helps to understand the behavior of humans in society. In this field of science, it offers social and human services to someone that is in need of direct service to help themselves and even others. In the field you have the opportunity to help people with certain mental illnesses and teach them how to cope.
II. There are ways and you can help certain individuals and was of helping them cope with certain things such as depression, bi-polar, ADHD, ext. In applied behavioral science we have to learn how to study the human behavior. There are so many ways of doing this, you can work as a social worker where you are working hand in hand with children who need your services due to abuse or neglect and even provide the same services in a school atmosphere. Also even working in nursing home with adult protective services to make sure the patients are not being abused or neglected as well.
III. I feel that applied behavioral science would be applied in my case study, case study number 1 involving severe depression, because depression as a whole is a psychological disorder affecting the mind. Clinical psychology is concerned with assessing and helping treat patients with such issues as severe depression such as what Joe is suffering from in my study.
IV. For my paper I plan on further researching into the area of depression such as what Joe is coping with on a day to day basis, what has lead him to it and if it is in fact something he has inherited.
