1. Project – Organizational Chart & Stakeholder Relationship Diagram (20% of class grade)
The organizational chart is the standard way to depict internal reporting relationships and how power is distributed throughout the organization. The relationship diagram is a helpful way of assessing interactions and relationships in an organization or process inside and outside the organization. You will be using these tools and other information to describe the organization and identify the stakeholder relationships for a health care organization of your choice. YOU MUST CREATE THE RELATIONSHIP DIAGRAM. Use the key words “relationship diagram” in your search engine to learn more about them. The spoke and wheel graphic is used most by students. Use arrows,,,,,,dotted or dashed or colored to denote types of relationships. Use boxes or circles to show different stakeholders or types e.g. external, internal, community, vendors. Narrative/Critical Thinking (Blooms) Format (REQUIRED) paper. (70%) Based on the organizational chart, your research on org designs and relationship diagram, submit a 5 page narrative, excluding references, that describes and critically analyzes the organization and what you have learned about/researched in this exercise. The paper should be in APA format with appropriate references. An abstract is not required, and the title page does not count in the 5 page limit. Following is a structure you will use for this analysis.

o Knowledge: Brief Background or description of the organization, including the mission or purpose, number and types of employees, and a description of the stakeholders/customers. (approximately 1 page)
o Comprehension: Your understanding from research models as to why this is the structure (vertical, horizontal, tall) chosen/used by your selected organization (Read chapter 2 Understanding Understanding material)
o Application: Give an example of another similar organization in scope/type/mission using a different/same structure
o Analysis: Review of the organizational structure and the effectiveness (or lack of) for meeting the mission and vision of the organization. (approximately 1.5 pages) What makes it work/not?
o Synthesis: Offer a new way to think about or actually change the way power/relationships exist in your selected organization maybe a new org chart???
o Evaluation: What are the pros and cons of your idea? What unintended consequences might occur? Do a critical self analysis of your new idea.

Organizational chart (15%) – Note any characteristics that make the organizational structure unique. The organizational chart does not need names, just position titles.
Create a Relationship Diagram (15%) – Identify how your organization relates to at least seven (7) of its external stakeholders or customers, including at least two (2) other entities in the broad health care community. You will submit three documents to the Org Project Assignment folder. 1: The Org Chart, 2. The relationship diagram you create/ppt and 3.
