Ask clarifying questions, provide additional information about the instrument(s) discussed, or evaluate the appropriateness of the instrument(s) used.

Your response must be a minimum of 150 words in length. If your response offers an alternative viewpoint or refers to the ideas or work of others, your post must be supported by citing an outside scholarly source, using APA style.

Cite and briefly summarize the dissertation or project report you selected.

The capstone I chose to discuss is Stress Reduction Program in Military Clinic by Hyung-Ju Kang. This capstone discusses occupation related stress and the correlation of higher rates of substance abused and suicide than other professionals with job stress (Kang, 2016). This was specifically in an outpatient military clinic. The solution in this capstone was implementing a weekly yoga-based stress reduction program for the health care employees (Kang, 2016).

Describe the instrument(s) you found in the dissertation or project you selected. Include information about how the instrument’s measurements are reported.

The instruments of measurement I found in this capstone were Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and Two-way ANOVA. The PSS was used before and after the test design as it is the most widely used psychological instrument for measuring the perception of stress (Kang, 2016). It is a measure of the degree to which situations in one’s life are appraised as stressful (Kang, 2016).

Baseline and end-program data were compared using Two-way ANOVA , and it showed that at the end of the program, the yoga participants, when compared to the control group, self-reported feeling significantly less anxious, confused, depressed, tired and unsure and had a greater sense of life purpose and satisfaction (Kang, 2016).

Provide information about the instrument’s validity and reliability (hint: search the Capella library databases linked in the Studies for this unit).

According to Khalili, Sirati, Ebadi, Tavallai, & Habibi (2017) the Cohen Perceived Stress Scale is being widely used in carious countries. This study is a methodical and cross-sectional descriptive investigation of 100 patients with chronic headache admitted to the pain clinic in Baqiyatallah Educational and Therapeutic Center (Khalili et al., 2017). As a result, the factor analysis of the scale, the two elements of coping and distress were determined. As a conclusion the PSS has good internal consistency ad reliability, as it indicated a link between stress and chronic headache (Khalili et al., 2017).

Papadopoulou et al. (2017) utilized the ANOVA test to evaluate the reliability and validity of the adapted Greek version of the Okhuma questionnaire to detect dysphasia among patients hospitlatlzied in Japanese nursing facilities. In collaboration with the Cronbach’s coefficient and Cohen’s Kappa the ANOVA test in the two measurement times showed statistically significant correlation in both measures. In conclusion the adapted Greek version of the questionnaire is valid and reliable for the screening of dysphagia in the Greek-speaking patients (Papadopoulou et al., 2017). These two studies also serve as studies that utilizes the two mentioned instruments.
