As a child you probably remember hearing or reading stories intended to teach values; sometimes they are cautionary tales sometimes they are tales of exemplary behavior. Many of you may have encountered these as part of your education in a religion. Usually as children the moral tales are clear–cut and dry bad and good black and white. But grown-up morality is much more complicated and the stories we are reading this week reflect that complicated morality.
