Assume you are a nurse practitioner who has joined an urban family medical practice. One of the reasons you accepted this position is because your personal vision is to make a difference in the lives of families within your community. Your clinic provides medical care for underserved members of the population.
Your supervisor has asked you to consider joining a professional organization Your population of focus is not limited by political or social boundaries, and you may be seeing patients of all ages, races, ethnicities, cultures, religious beliefs, and political affiliations. Strong national professional organizations are key to influencing national policy and regulation, as well as highlighting the effectiveness of the advanced practice nursing role.
Research local organizations and choose 1 you believe best supports your community and its efforts to advocate for better health care among its population, which you serve.
Prepare a table in Microsoft Word or Excel and complete the following presentation, describing the organization you have selected.
Address the following in your presentation:
o What is the name and purpose of the organization?
o How might the organization relate to your population and advanced practice nursing? Provide some examples.
o What policy issues are of concern to the organization?
o What effect, if any, will joining this organization have on your practice?
Cite references for all sources on separate tables. Grammar and spell check your work and make sure your have included all the criteria for the assignment.
