After finishing the required reading for Week 4, you are now aware that the treatment of schizophrenia can involve the use of oral or long-acting injectable products. Both options are viable, and there are many drug choices in each of these categories. However, for any one client, one may be preferable to the other. It is important to consider these things when making a prescribing choice.
Compare and contrast the different issues involved in choosing either an oral or long-acting injection route treatment plan. This should include the advantages and disadvantages of each route and any differences in how you would plan the follow-up appointments for each different route.
