$4 billion deficit reduction plan. It is likely that these proposed cuts would have a detrimental effect on such important
nursing programs, as Community Health Centers, the Nursing Workforce Development Programs and Health Professions
Programs (Title VIII) and the National Institute of Health (NIH), which includes the National Institute of Nursing Research
(NINR). The ANA believes these drastic cuts would exacerbate the current nursing shortage and subsequently put even
more pressure on nurses in the health care setting. The ANA is urging nurses to help them take action.
