This course has a writing requirement. This requirement will be met with the completion of three reaction papers, worth a total of 15% of your grade in the course. Each reaction paper should be 500 words in length. Points will be deducted for excessive length (usually one point for every 100 additional words). Papers that are too short will likely lose points for insufficient content, so aim for between 450-550 words.
The due dates and module restrictions for the reaction papers are as follows: reaction paper #1 covering any topic in modules 1-4 is due by midnight on May 26, 2015, reaction paper #2 covering any topic in modules 5-10 is due by midnight on June 15, 2015, and reaction paper #3 covering any topic in modules 10-20 is due by midnight on July 6, 2015. You are to prepare, post to the corresponding discussion forum (please copy and paste the papers into the discussion forums and do not post as an attachment or else some students may not be able to open them), and submit each of the three (3) reaction papers to the reaction paper drop boxes as Word-formatted attachments. Please label each reaction paper file like this: Last Name, Reaction Paper #, Module # (e.g., SmithRP1Module12).
Each reaction paper is to have two main components: 1) analyze what you feel you have learned from a specific module (your choice) and 2) relate the information to your personal/professional experience and discuss how you can use this information to improve your life going forward – personally, socially, professionally. To successfully complete the first component, you will need to identify specific research, a theory or theories, and/or concept(s) from the module and sufficiently describe them so that someone unfamiliar with them would be able to understand them after reading your paper.
