There are some critics who argue that Cannery Row is not really a novel but rather a picture with words. And then there are others who argue the opposite. What’s your conclusion and why?

Cannery Row is a novel by American author John Steinbeck, published in 1945. It is set during the Great Depression in Monterey, California, on a street lined with sardine canneries that is known as Cannery Row. The story revolves around the people living there: Lee Chong, the local grocer; Doc, a marine biologist; and Mack, the leader of a group of derelicts.

This paper is about this book ,

There are some critics who argue that Cannery Row is not really a novel but rather a picture with words. And then there are others who argue the opposite. What’s your conclusion and why? Again, be specific in validating your conclusion.

It should be roughly 4-5 pages in length (double spaced), written in Microsoft Word with 12 point type and an easily readable font. Citations and paraphrasing need to be footnoted, but because this is not a course strictly for English majors, you can use whatever footnoting method you like – just so it’s accurate. You may want to consult secondary sources – they can be helpful. But your thoughts and ideas should – indeed, must – be your own.
