The Impact of the Humanities in Nursing
Humanities is a crucial subject that impacts the appreciation and integration of focal points of arts in learning and daily practice. The genre has improved the quality of life in health care setup because it improves the abilities of the nurses to view the patient’s needs holistically. The discipline gives a clear understanding of self, fosters morals, and improves sensitivity among the nurses. It promotes observation skills through the arts like music, visual arts, and drama, thus guiding healthcare workers to express their emotions by clarifications and identifications of ethical and moral values (Dumitru, 2019). Dumitru (2019) asserts that humanities are a valuable discipline that enhances critical thinking since it creates an environment that encourages thinking, fostering its meaning. Through humanities, nurses gain knowledge in appreciating life by attaining awareness about cultural diversity to develop competence. Therefore, humanities foster knowledge, create curiosity, improve communication skills, promote cultural sensitivity, create creativity, and enhance critical thinking among registered nurses, making it viable for integration during practice in my workplace as a registered nurse (RN).
Incorporating Humanities Principles in my Workplace as an RN
Several humanities principles are crucial for an RN practice, especially in fostering patient-nurse interaction, thus improving nurses’ working conditions and service quality (Vujanic et al., 2020). Such fundamental principles like empathy, impartiality, humanity, ethics, and moral values enhance caring behaviors in the workplace and improve patient-nurse and interprofessional interactions. (Dumitru, 2019). I can, therefore, comfortably apply these principles during my daily interactions to build a trusting relationship with the clients and nurture a conducive environment for them (Vujanić et al., 2020). Ethics, morality, impartiality, and humanity are essential in building an effective interprofessional practice in my workplace.

I feel the impact humanities can have on myself is the ability o look at things in a different light no matter the topic or issue. To know how to better understand humanity and be able to take on tasks or events in my life with a different perspective. To pay better attention to details and ask more questions, not just take what I am asked to do at work and just do it but to do it with a better understanding of what the outcome may be or the impact it may have. When we are given the tools to understand something better we are better we have more knowledge in something and we can pass that on someone else. Th is how I feel humanities has or makes on us in the work force and in our everyday lives. When we are equipped with the understanding of something it can have a domino effect and help us be better human beings.
