THE DISCUSSION WAS:
First, introduce yourself to the class. Include your major and anything you would like to share about yourself. Then address the prompt below.
Evidence-based practice has become the known foundation for clinical practice decision making within the nursing profession. However, various ways of knowing such as history, theory, and research are all important within the nursing practice discipline.
In this post provide a short introduction of yourself to your peers and instructor. Then, continue your initial post by responding to the following:
1. Describe the value of evidence-based nursing practice.
2. Explore how nursing knowledge and evidence-based practice is influenced by history, theory, and research.
3. Describe barriers to implementing evidence-based practice.
I PUT WHAT I SAID FOR THE DISCUSSION IN THE FILES
NOW WE HAVE TO:
For your response posts, choose two peers and provide strategies for overcoming the barriers identified in their postings. How might one overcome resistance to implementing evidence-based practice?
Demonstrate more depth and thought than saying things like “I agree” or “You are wrong.” Guidance is provided for you in the discussion prompt.
THE PEER SAID:
According to Cardoso et al. (2021), “evidence-based practice (EBP) is defined as clinical decision-making that considers the best available evidence; the context in which the care is delivered; client preference; and the professional judgment of the health professional”. EBP is an important part of nursing because following current and up-to-date healthcare recommendations for every day clinical can improve patient safety and quality of healthcare delivered (Cardoso et al., 2021). Healthcare is constantly changing and evolving, and new research shows improved ways to better nursing practice.
Many people believe that the founder of nursing researcher is Florence Nightingale because through her observations in caring for wounded soldiers during the Crimean War, she changed the way nursing care was delivered for the better (Polit & Beck, 2018). Throughout the years, from mid 1900s to the present, evidence-based research has improved nursing clinical practice through trial and error, researching theories, and other qualitative and quantitative research (Polit & Beck, 2018). Nursing research grew over time through EBP, with different areas of research such as community health, cultural disparities, patient feedback (Polit & Beck, 2018).
One major barrier to implementing EBP is the etiology or cause needs to be identified to study the problem. In healthcare, sometimes it can be very difficult to find the cause of the problem. For example, Polit & Beck (2018) uses the example of smoking cessation programs because if we did not know that cigarettes can lead to multitude of health issues, smoking cessation programs would never have been brought up. It is important that nurses are aware of patients and always looking for ways to safely deliver quality care.

Chapter 1 introduces the history of nursing research, the purpose of nursing research, and the fundamentals of evidence-based nursing practice.
Chapter 2 focuses on key concepts and the steps in the research process. Together, Chapters 1 and 2 form the foundation for evidence-based nursing practice and discuss the evolution to current nursing practice.
Chapter 18 describes the steps of evidence-based practice and identifies strategies to improve patient care.
