NUR 440 Milestone Two Guidelines and Rubric
Overview:
In Milestone One, you submitted a topic proposal for instructor approval and feedback. For Milestone Two, you will incorporate any feedback and formulate a PICO question which will guide the variables in your research as you develop an integrative review of the literature. Your PICO question will assist you in the process of finding and evaluating evidence related to your outcome as you continue to build upon your final project. By the end of this course, your topic also has the potential to be explored further as part of your capstone project.

For this milestone, you will turn your topic into a PICO question and answer each of the questions posed below:
1. Identify the population of interest; what are their characteristics? Specifically, what group of individuals will be impacted by your identified intervention? (Population)
2. What is the intervention of interest? Explain why the intervention is appropriate for solving the problem. (Intervention)
3. What is the comparison intervention? Explain the alternative to the intervention. (Comparison)
4. What consequences are we interested in? How will this outcome impact nursing practice or nursing care? (Outcome)

Textbook: Essentials of Nursing Research: Appraising Evidence for Nursing Practice, Chapters 3 (pp.43–47), 5, and 7.
Chapter 3, pp. 43–47, discusses research journal articles, explaining what they are and how to read them. Chapter 5 discusses how to identify research problems, questions, and hypotheses. Chapter 7 discusses how to locate theoretical and conceptual frameworks within a research study.

Your PICO question must be submitted as a 1- to 2-paragraph Microsoft Word document with 12-point Times New Roman font and one-inch margins. All citations and references should be formatted according to the most recent APA guidelines.
