The dependency of nursing facilities on Medicaid has been compared to the dependency of a drug addict on his supplier. The funding of our system of providing care is so driven by Medicaid dollars that most nursing facilities cannot conceive not receiving such support. However, the current Federal and State budget crises have some law makers contemplating the unthinkable. Maybe we at AHC should too.
