Healthcare reform tries to focus on wellness and preventative care versus hospital health care system. The shift with this health reform does have an impact on nursing in that with the focus on preventative care the nurse is at the forefront of educating the patient and family in relation to preventative illness.
The healthcare reform allows for more nurses to meet increasing demands for health care and prepare more nurses to be highly skilled to meet the need of an aging population with more complex issues. It creates opportunities for nurses to partake in and lead efforts to aid the countries health system.
(2)I agree that it is the nurses responsibility to model health and educate one the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. This prevents so many avoidable diseases unfortunately it is the most underutilized tool.
